7 Things that you should have before the Software Project

Having potential project opportunities is great. However, making projects successful is the most important thing that we should do. Just like baking a cake, the project needs resources to make the project better. On this post, we discuss 7 resources that you need to prepare before the project is running.

  1. Required skills.
  2. Material
  3. Equipment
  4. Facilities
  5. Travel
  6. Schedule Estimation

Required Skills

You need to list down the skills that you need to finish the project. We recommend you list in worksheet and choose the person you want to assign with those skills.

Material

In a software project, material can be anything that you need such as server, cloud, software like third party part, or hardware like a storage that used to host the web.

Equipment

In a software project, equipment is anything that you need to build software such as developer laptop, development server, visual studio, and any subscription that you need to develop the software. The difference between material and equipment in a software project is the material is given to customers while the equipment belongs to us.

Facilities

It can be internet connection, lunch box, cell phone credits, subscription to the e-learning, chat GPT subscription, and many other that related to support the project.

Travel

It can be cost to customer site. It can be fuel reimbursed, hotel expenses, and any other expenses that related with travel and expense.

Schedule estimation

It discusses three things:

  • Resources availability. Some resources are available on night shift, freelance, or fulltime.
  • Resources commitment, some resources can solve the task earlier while others need more time.
  • Reducing the days off such as national holidays and others.

That's it 7 things that you need to care about the resources.
